Using Lancets

You should use a new lancet every time you test. Using a new lancet every time makes testing safer and more comfortable. That’s because when you use a lancet, it’s no longer sterile or free from germs and dirt. Plus, they get dull every time you use them, and a dull lancet can make testing more uncomfortable.

Safe Disposal of Lancets

It’s important to dispose of your used lancets safely so nobody gets stuck by mistake. Place the protective cap on a flat surface with the Bayer logo facing down. With the lancet still in the lancing device, push the lancet into the center of the protective cap. Hold the device over a container you’ve chosen for safe disposal of sharp objects like lancets and needles. While pressing the blue release button, firmly pull the blue cocking handle as far out as you can until you hear a click and the lancet falls into the container.
